Michelle Obama is an icon not only for her chic wardrobe, but for the intelligent point-of-view she brings to Fashion. Not only does she acknowledge trends in the market, she chooses designers that have cultural relevance to the countries she's visiting. Such was the case at the State Dinner in India.
Michelle Obama visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, or President's Palace, in New Delhi wearing an Indian-American designer, Rachel Roy. She wore both the "Dune velvet" skirt and "Sable Moroccan tunic" from Rachel Roy's Fall 2010 collection.
The long hemline only further accentuated Michelle Obama's tall and slim physique. What I loved most, though, was the combination of velvet and metallic; it's one of my favorite looks this season. The luxurious velvet texture mixed with a shiny metallic color just radiates elegance.
Rachel Roy's Fall collection was just that: a testament to Moroccan opulence played out in refined, streamlined silhouettes and plenty of sparkle and shine. Michelle Obama is the perfect muse for such a collection, don't you think?
Here, she paired the skirt and tunic with an embroidered belt for an extra sparkly flair. What do you think of her look?
